An Announcement

Look I know you all think I’ve gone bonkers but there’s a reason for all this sponsored post shenanigans. I don’t know if you remember, but my beloved camera is getting very old and tired and I really need a new one. Fun as instagram is (look over there on the right – come and join me) and lovely as it is taking iPhone snaps I miss being able to get out and take photos without my camera deciding to have a strop and break for no reason. So I’m saving up madly and soon I’ll be the proud owner of a lovely new (secondhand) camera. That means more photos here which has to be a good thing.

Anyway, I was ambling around today taking snaps with the phone of bits-of-the-house and I thought I’d put them up so you can see how we’re doing with making it our own.

View from the kitchen corner, where there’s one comfy chair and I like to sit and do nothing. There’s not enough of that going on right now, what with starting a new job and everything else going on.

I found a new shop today on my favourite Southport street, Wesley Street. There were cute hanging things like this one, and look at these:

This is the beautiful vintage mirror given to us by our friends Diane and Phill. I haven’t worked out how to hang it above the fireplace yet (mainly because my DIY skills consist of lots of hopeful banging and lots more things-falling-down).

I found these today in TKMaxx. 100 vintage Ladybird postcards – they’re going in frames in our old fashioned hall.

As are these 100 Penguin covers. Aren’t they gorgeous?

This is our hall ceiling. It is so, so beautiful. It’s such an honour to live in this house full of 120 years of history. I can’t wait to find out all about the people who lived here before us.

I look at this ceiling and imagine all the people who’ve walked here before us. This old town is full of beautiful buildings. I can’t wait to take photos and show them to you.

  • What a lovely home you have!! And I adore vintage postcards, such a good idea. I found a few several years ago of 1940′s tourist sites in the States–kitsch and fab!

  • Those post cards remind me of story book covers. I think we have one of those books here somewhere.
